History was repeating itself only this time the pain was a thousand times worse when he stood here with Abby ready to watch her walk through the doors he had begun what it felt like to love someone with all he had, now he was watching the love of his life leave him behind.

Buck knew Eddie had to do this he had to get Christopher back. Eddie wasn't whole without his son, and Buck couldn't be selfish and beg Eddie to stay, to not leave LA.

To not leave him.

"I have something for you."

Eddie’s soft voice pulled Buck back from his spiraling thoughts as memories of him saying goodbye to Abby flashed before his eyes.

"You didn't have to get me anything."

The smile Eddie gave him was the one Buck had come to realize was the one Eddie only gave to him. "I know I didn't, but I wanted to." Reaching out, Eddie pulled up Buck's hand and placed something metal in his palm.

It took Buck only a second to realize what it was. He knew his blue eyes were full of shock, disbelief, and hope as he met Eddie’s. "Your St. Christopher medal? I don't understand."

Carefully cupping Buck’s hand in both of his Eddie rested his forehead against Buck's. "This is my promise to you that I will come back for you. I will be back with Christopher as soon as I can. But until I can be, I want you to wear this, so a piece of me is here watching your back and keeping you safe."

He couldn't tell Buck that he loves him, not when he is leaving him but he could give him a symbol of his love for him and remind Buck that he is and will forever be in Eddie and Christopher hearts and part of their family.

Ryan's epic admittance that Eddie loves Buck to his core.

Ryan calling Eddie’s relationships with Ana and Marisol fillers. Eddie talking to Bobby about why he seems to go all in and rush these relationships when he isn't sure they are going to last basically wanting a relationship that is comfortable, full of love and support one that he knows is forever like the one he has created with Buck. Bringing us back to the famousline, "You don't find love, you make it."

The look on Eddie’s face when Buck tells him he and Natalia have broken up. There was no reason for Eddie to look that pleased and intrigued by that news.

Seeing Eddie from Buck's point of view where he is always bathed in light, happy and dorky. Buck sees Eddie as his light. Just as Eddie sees Buck as his.

Even injured Eddie’s first thought are towards Buck and feeling guilty that they excluded him.

Magnets. The boys pulled towards each other when they are apart. Space is a mortal enemy of theirs.

Eddie and Buck still are only able to open up to one another in ways they can't others.

The whole, it is never a good thing to date someone you meet on a rescue they never end well. Eddie met Marisol on rescue at her house, and Buck met Tommy when they stole a helicopter to save Bobby and Athena. It's not a good sign for either couples' future.

Eddie made sure he and Buck had a couples costume before Buck had a chance to bring up the idea to Tommy and Buck quickly and happily agreeing.

Kim being Shannon's double, but having Buck's flirty nature.

The way Eddie looks happier and freer when it is him, Christopher and Buck, together than when he and Christopher were hanging out with Marisol.

Time for some Buddie fandom positivity!

Okay Buddie fam, the last couple of weeks have really been tough for the fandom, but we're still here thriving. After all the toxicity and discourse, I think it's time to focus on the good things, all things Buddie.

I am, at this point, 100% certain that Buddie is in the works. There are a million different reasons why I am so convinced.

Here's the beginning of a list:

The pre-season Ryan and Oliver interviews where they were completely unhinged and talked so freely about Buddie.

Buck was made canonically bisexual in one single episode.

Buck's current love interest has almost no screen time, which really doubles down on the whole 'they needed a way to out Buck as bi, so they quickly brought in Tommy to fullfill that goal.'

There were talks to make Eddie queer (with Tommy).

Eddie keeps being intertwined in Buck's new romance. He is there all the time and very consistently. Even when he isn't there in body, he is there in the dialogue. To the point where the audience has picked up on it.

Maddie knows! Her 'If there is something you need to tell Eddie' convo was so interesting.

The way Buck is consistently shown as a second father to Christophere, in body and in dialogue. First he talks with Chris about Shannon and then he is also involved in his new romance with Tommy.

Both Oliver and Ryan keep getting questions about Buddie in interviews. They love answering these questions and their grins are alway so wide. It's obvious they talked about it with Tim as well at some point, because their answers are clearly rehearsed. They have been told how to navigate these questions, in order to gently introduce the idea of Buddie to the general audience. I mean, the whole 'We're open to it! Whatever happens happens!' basically screams that they are going there.

The many articles about Buddie. The interest is crazy at this point. I love it!

Buck's new romance is almost never talked about, except in the whole narrative when they talk about bisexual Buck. For the rest it's all Buddie.

The questions to these interviews are pre-approved by ABC and show runners. So the fact that they get asked all the time and they are allowed these very open answers? Very interesting!

There has been no PR around Buck's romance with Tommy. No joined interview with Oliver and Lou, no photoshoots... nothing, nada, crickets. Just Oliver repeating he would like Buck to stay friends with Tommy after they break up. I mean...

...

I'm sure there are soooo many more things that indicate that the show is finally going the Buddie-route. I just can't remember all of them. :)

Let's create and spread some Buddie positivity here. I think we can all use some of that right now.

I don't begrudge anyone their campaign preferences, and I think there's plenty of valid reasons to like Campaign 3 the best and this is not directed at people who are genuinely having a great time with it, but it feels like virtually all the nostalgia and wishful thinking I see surrounding Campaign 3 is screaming "you guys want Campaign 2." You want more slow travel and downtime and interparty conversations and slow-burn romance? You wish their main focus was fighting governmental corruption? You want a party that only semi-settles down at the end and keeps adventuring and remains very close? You're frustrated by how everpresent and overarching the moon plot is? You miss when they were just fucking around in a city? I genuinely believe you want Campaign 2, or at best you love a specific ship or a character from Campaign 3 but aren't happy about basically anything else, and would vastly prefer the tone and events and plot of Campaign 2. And I don't really care if you watch Campaign 2, or if you think I'm being annoying here; I simply genuinely believe you'd be happier watching Campaign 2 than Campaign 3 and are so deep in a sunk cost fallacy well you can't see it.

I think I saw your genesis x cissnei work many years ago and I have you to thank for my shipping them until now hahaha yours was truly a vision ✨️

@another-dreamless-daze, oh my god??? really??? I have the biggest smile on my face now holy heck, I've been sailing alone in my little boat of Genesis/Cissnei for so long, it's delightful to know it's not just me! ;w;

There's just some feeling I get when imagining them together that just GETS me so damn bad, even though they don't ever truly interact... the nearest we get is this scene here, and that's a Genesis copy that tried to do her in, OTL.

I think Cissnei's appreciation for wings and what they mean to her personally (freedom from a life where she had minimal / difficult choices, having come from a ShinRa-run orphanage that sounded pretty brutal to the kids, to the point where she ended up being the youngest Turk ever) would definitely leave her with some sort of envy/longing/hurt over how Genesis (and Angeal by extension) appears to view his own.

Maybe she's jealous that Genesis managed to break free from otherwise being firmly in ShinRa's clutches (especially if she was aware of how he was made by the Jenova project). That he literally flew the coup, wings and all, and perhaps a hidden part of her wishes she could have the courage to do the same one day. (It's not like she chose ShinRa, it was the environment she was raised in, and her only path to a better life.)

And we also know she's got a little rebellious streak for helping others/doing the right thing (i.e. w/ Zack and Cloud on the run near CC's end). So I wonder, if she harboured any feelings for Genesis at any point, how she might act on them during CC, being a Turk and all.

I also think, if the opportunity of her being close to Genesis ever presented itself somehow during CC, she'd be really fascinated by/in awe of his feathers, and that might throw him off guard. (:< (I drop a few little fun tidbits of both of them in my fic, Thing With Feathers, that basically covers this XD)

Basically the potential for angst and drama and romantic/sexual tension lives in my head rent free lmao

And let's be honest they would just be such an aesthetic pair, especially now we've seen Cissnei's FF7: Rebirth outfit, hnngg. and she'd also be able to dish back whatever snarky/cheeky attitude Genesis could throw at her, too. oh, the trouble they could cause...

Now my brain is going off on a potential post-DoC Genesis/Cissnei thing, oh my god...

honestly? i’ve been into shipping since i was a kid, i’ve gotten hyperfixated over ships before, but i don’t think i’ve ever felt so strongly about a ship before than stancest.

it’s such a peak ship. it’s so malleable, yet, consistent — there’s so many different things you can do with it, but the core dynamic doesn’t end up changing too much.

the main reason i love shipping so much is because i think of shipping as a form of alternate character interpretation. and that’s definitely stancest. but stancest is such a good alternate interpretation of the text that it, in some very important ways, is a more REASONABLE interpretation than stan & ford being Totally Platonic No Homo Bros. and i cannot stress enough, for someone who likes to interpret things in unintended ways, that’s like fucking CRACK to me.

just. i’ve used the term otp plenty of times in the past. and idk if this is just my adhd or what but. stancest is The OTP. calling it a “one true pairing” doesn’t even feel right. it’s on a whole new tier. ε true pairing.
